‘Electronic and non-traditional scores have come to the fore, with genre films pushing this trend forward. Jim Williams' ethereal Possessor is one of the most intense.’ -The Quietus

BIOGRAPHY

After extensive experience with music for television culminating in an Ivor Novello Award nomination for HOTEL BABYLON, Jim Williams found his calling in feature length drama when he scored Ben Wheatley’s debut feature DOWN TERRACE, and has since focused on some of the more innovative feature films of recent times.

He scored Wheatley’s KILL LIST, SIGHTSEERS and A FIELD IN ENGLAND followed by Julia Ducournau’s highly acclaimed RAW, the score for which was César Award nominated.

Scottish folk drama THE DARK MILE, Indian horror KRIYA, Portuguese social realist PROVISIONAL FIGURES, and WOODLANDS DARK AND DAYS BEWITCHED: A History of Folk Horror directed by Canadian Kier-La Janisse, saw Williams expand into international cinema.

The score for Brandon Cronenberg’s POSSESSOR won the Prix de la Musique Originale at the prestigious Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival, as well as Best Score at the 2021 FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards.

The score for BEAST was nominated for a BIFA for Best Music, and for the International Emmy Award winning HELP starring Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham, Williams scored an ‘eviscerating’ and harrowing 12-minute music sequence that trawls the depths of despair thrown up by the pandemic.

The American feature RESURRECTION directed by Andrew Semans, followed Julia Ducournau’s second feature TITANE. TITANE was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

Recent scores include Luna Carmoon’s debut feature HOARD, which will premiere at a major film festival soon, and the Amazon Europe series ROMANCERO is complete and ready for release.
